It’s been 18 years since workers’ leader Filemon “Popoy” Lagman was
assassinated at the University of the Philippines, and to former Albay Rep.
Grex Lagman, he will always be his cool uncle.
Grex paid tribute to Popoy on the latter’s birthday on March 17.
In a Facebook post, Grex greeted his uncle and said his memorial at the
Bahay ng Alumni steps would always remind his family of his heroic deeds. He
may be gone, but his memory lives on in their hearts and minds, he added.
And his works live on in his son Dante, who are continuing his
advocacies.
But Grex also loved his uncle’s other side, such as his love for
motorcycle. It was Popoy who taught him to ride big bikes as a kid, he added.
Popoy will never be forgotten!
“Mapagpalayang Kaarawan, Uncle Ching! Ang pananda ninyo sa hagdanan ng
Bahay ng Alumni ay laging nagpapaalala sa amin ng iyong kabayanihan! Ang
memorya mo ay laging buhay sa aming mga puso’t isip.
Happy you’re continuing his advocacies, pinsan Dante Josef Lagman!
Miss your 500 cc motorcycles, unc! You taught me how to ride ’em big
bikes at age 10! What a cool tito! Hehe,” Grex posted.
